Selection of Guppies For Breeding On Basis Of Their Skin Colors

Coloration in guppies is determined genetically or color trait genes of the parents of the baby guppies. Basically genes found in the female guppies will play a major role in determination of coloring patterns of the baby guppies. Colors in a guppy fish are present either in dominant way or recessive way. For getting a particular recessive color in baby guppies, breeding guppy parents should both poses that particular recessive color. Whereas dominant color genes have more chances that their traits will be carried forward to the babies.

Generally male guppies appear more vibrant and attractive with bright colors when compared with the female guppies. Make sure that the guppies you select for breeding should have attractive appearance and vibrant colors both for the male and females.
