3 Simple Steps To Restrict Guppies Overpopulation

Female Guppies have a special capability through which they can get pregnant multiple times after first breeding. Due to this capability they can give birth to hundreds of baby guppies (fry) in a year. Though this capability is mind blowing the consequences may lead to over population of guppies in the aquarium tank. Guppies are also known as million fish on the basis of their this characteristic. They multiply so rapidly that they can easily create problems for the fish keepers. Therefore in this article we have listed several ways that you can try to overcome overpopulation of the guppies in the tank.

1. Sell The Baby Guppies (Fry) To Stop Overpopulation

Well you are excited to breed guppies and get new babies, guppies can multiply rapidly and fill your fish tank really soon at a much faster rate than you can imagine. Although its always good to see your fish breeding, Sometimes it also becomes a headache to manage such large amount of fishes in a small aquarium. The best one can do is either they can expand their aquarium and keep the new fishes themselves or they can gift their friends and relatives. What most people do is they sell to other fish pet keepers online or to local stores which can also help them in earning a few extra bucks. Though this concept might seem a kind of weird, Their are many people doing this to earn a healthy full time income by doing guppy farming in guppy farms.

2. Separating Male Guppy Fish From Female Guppies To Control Population

This is the most clever step to control population of guppies in a fish aquarium tank. Keeping male and female guppies separately will not give them a chance to mate and thus no baby guppies will be born. One needs to be very careful while separating the males from females as if even one male gets left in the tank of females, it can breed with all the females and tank and will result in overpopulation. One needs to spot the difference between male and female guppies, also he needs to be 100% sure before separating the guppies. You can either use two separate fish tanks to keep male and female guppies separately or can create a partition in the same tank to keep them separately.

3. Adding Large Predator Fish To Control Population Of Guppies
